Learn how to communicate in a new healthy way with self, in relationships, while gaining tools to maintain this connection. This introductory workshop is open to Individuals and Couples, and anyone seeking to build healthy, conscious, mindful relationships in personal and professional lives.
The introductory workshop focuses on the teachings and techniques of Imago therapy – a specific style of relationship therapy designed to help conflict within relationships become opportunities for healing and growth. The Latin word “imago” – meaning “image” – refers to the “unconscious image of familiar love.”
The concept of imago as an image of familiar love suggests that our early relationships teach us something about love and about ourselves. Through these early experiences, we develop a sense of an identity related to love, such as what love is and what we need to do in order to experience love from others and feel safe.
In our early relationships, we start to develop a sense of self-worth based on how we are treated by important people in our lives. We start to develop attachment patterns and start to gain a sense of how we think we should be treated by others. When we fall in love, we’re often taken aback by the magic and possibility that comes with it. Unconsciously, what we’re seeking in romantic relationships is what we’re familiar with from our childhood. This includes feelings of love, self-expression and connection as well as feelings of abandonment, suppression or neglect. As our experience in love deepens, core issues will begin to surface often overshadowing all the beauty in the relationship. This leaves most couples feeling misunderstood, hurting, in doubt and eventually breaking up. Instead of seeing it as the beginning of the deeper work of love.
Imago Relationship Therapy is a conversation that moves from blame and rejection towards empathy and healing. In the work, partners are on a journey of discovery of each other, learning new methods of communication, deepening connection and co-creating a new love relationship. Partners begin to realize their true purpose in the love dynamic and become more conscious in building the relationship they desire.
*The techniques and concepts learned within IMAGO Therapy can be applied to all types of relationships – intimate, professional, with self, children, and beyond.
